His little legs were tired of holding still. He was in a new environment and just wanted to explore. Why would he want to walk with his family when he could run? His dad asks him to come back. Try it a little slower this time. Then it happens. Dad crouches down to get on his level and opens his arms to beckon his toddler back. A warm smile and an inviting hug was all it took to get a response. With wide eyes and belly laughs he runs as fast as his legs will allow. Back to the safety and comfort of his dad’s arms.
What may seem like a small thing on the outside reflected so perfectly the relationship that Tyson and Kristi have with their children. Anyone with kids knows that leaving the house can be a struggle. Planning outfits, getting everyone out the door on time, and juggling golden hour with dinner and bedtime can add stress to even our best efforts. In our time together, none of that stress showed. Kristi and Tyson consistently responded with love and kindness when their toddler needed encouragement.
Tyson’s parents came along to help with the littles and it was easy to see that they too have this type of relationship with their children and now grandchildren. I love it when extended family comes to help with family sessions. Grandmas are pure magic and Tyson’s mom was no exception. I have a whole bag of tricks to get the shot, but I know Grandma will always be able to get a better smile out of the baby than I ever could.
Kristi and Tyson, thank you for giving me the opportunity to see your family grow and change. I can’t believe that this baby grew up to be this toddler, and now is a big brother! Spending time with you guys is always a highlight. Your kids are the absolute best. I will happily explore and roll the ball back and forth with them anytime!
