I grew up spending weekends and summers in gorgeous Hobble Creek Canyon. Camping at Jolley’s Ranch and playing in the river. Setting up tents, exploring in the woods, and cooking over the fire. It was so fun getting to meet there with Kristi and Tyson for their canyon fall family session. To be able to see it through fresh eyes again. Kids have a way of making routine things new and exciting. And there’s nothing more exciting than a giant pile of leaves to throw in the air!
For as exciting as the leaves were, the excitement around showing me their new baby brother was even greater! These two big kids clearly love their new baby and it shows. Watching them hold and snuggle up to him absolutely melted my mama heart. As a mom, I know that the moments of sibling love can sometimes be few and far between (especially as my own littles are getting bigger). Those photographs are the ones that I print and hang in my home, and make it into the end of year album. That’s why they’re some of my favorite to capture for others. Moments that show authentic connection between those who love each other.
It was a gorgeous fall night that I was so thankful to have. When the original date we planned turned cold (like a high of 36 type of cold) we took the chance to pivot and wait a week. And I’m so glad we did! It turned out to be the most perfectly crisp November evening!
Kristi and Tyson, thank you so much for allowing me to photograph your family again this year! I truly love spending time with you and your kids. I am definitely always excited to see all of you! Thank you to your sweet girl, for sharing her beloved Magenta with me. She is the doggy helper I never knew I needed helping me behind the camera. (Though, I did miss seeing the infamous blue ball this year.) You guys are the best of the best. I had so much fun with you guys, and hope you enjoy scrolling through some of my favorites from our time together!
