We had a beautiful spring evening at the Bountiful Temple for Melissa and James’s bridal session. The sunshine felt like such a gift after their engagement session, which had been cloudy and cold. Seeing the golden light glow behind the temple was the perfect setting for something truly special.
Melissa and James chose to set aside an evening just for portraits in their wedding attire. This was their way of slowing down before the big day. With so much going on—moving, work, and wedding prep—they wanted time to relax and be together. No timelines. No distractions. Just the two of them.
They also wanted a private first look at the beginning of the session. When they told me, I was genuinely excited. There’s something so meaningful about a quiet, emotional moment between a bride and groom before the wedding festivities begin. I was honored to help create that space for them.
What I didn’t expect was how emotional it would be for me too.
Watching James wait with anticipation. Helping Melissa into place and seeing her literally bounce with excitement. Then seeing the moment he turned and saw her for the first time in her dress—it was unforgettable. It reminded me why I love being a photographer. These are the moments that matter most.
After their first look, we walked the temple grounds as the sun set gently over the valley. We laughed, joked, and captured portraits that felt joyful and easy. The entire evening felt peaceful, meaningful, and full of love.
I left that night feeling so grateful. This Bountiful Temple bridal session reminded me of everything I love about photography. I get to capture both the little in-between moments and the once-in-a-lifetime ones. And I can’t wait to photograph their wedding day coming up!
