I always love getting to know my clients a little bet before their session. Something that stood out to me in our conversations was that this was going to be their first family session in many years. For all the reasons we find to put off updating photos, she recognized that her boys were growing up. And she wanted their family captured just how they are.
What an honor it is to be entrusted with that. To be invited to freeze time just for a moment. To photograph her boys who are no longer little toddlers, but growing into kind, funny, respectful young men. That’s what I love most about family storytelling photography. Creating images that feel true to who you are right now, preserving the connection that’s uniquely yours.
We had the best time soaking up the fall colors and the golden light. Their boys tried to teach me some modern lingo (apparently “drip” means really cool). I tried to keep up, but I’m pretty sure they thought I was a lost cause. Either way, there was plenty of laughter. Especially when the Nacho Libre impersonations started.
Cox family, thank you for trusting me to capture this season of your life. For the laughs, for the “drip” slang lessons, and for letting me photograph the stories that make your family who you are. Sessions like this show that photographs have a quiet power: they help us see how far we’ve come and how much beauty there is in right now.
Because life moves quickly, and it’s worth remembering every stage. Just as it is.
