Planning a photo session can feel like one more thing to figure out when life is already full. Maybe you’re planning a wedding, navigating senior year and everything that comes with graduation, applying for schools or jobs, all while working full time. There are already plenty of decisions to make, and then someone says, “Let’s take photos!” And suddenly you have to figure out what to wear, where to go, what to bring, and what you even want the photos to look like.
Here’s the thing: you don’t have to.
In fact, needing to figure it out is the exact reason you should reach out.
You Don’t Have to Know Exactly What You Want
Most people don’t plan photo sessions very often. So it’s completely understandable if you don’t know all the things you might want to consider.
When someone reaches out to me and says they want engagement, wedding, or graduation photos but aren’t really sure what htey want, I actually love that.
It gives us things to talk about.
I want to know what you’re envisioning, what matters most to you, what you’re drawn to, and what you definitely don’t want. Sometimes you come in with a very clear idea. Sometimes you have no idea beyond, “I just know i want really good photos.”
Both are completely okay.
The sessions that end up meaning the most aren’t always the ones where someone reached out with every detail already figured out. They’re often the ones where we’ve had the chance to collaborate and discover what feels right to them.
You Don’t Have to Carry the Planning Alone
Part of what I love about photographing couples and seniors is helping with all the little decisions that come with planning a session or a wedding day.
When you book you’ll receive my Portrait Guide with the things you’re probably already wondering about, and some things you may not have thought to ask yet.
What should you wear? How do you coordinate outfits without everyone looking identical? What should you bring? What time of day works best? How do you prepare yourself and/or your fiancé so you actually feel good when you show up?
Clothing is probably the number one thing people worry about, so I want you to have information and ideas before you ever open your closet or start shopping.
I also love providing solutions before questions even come up. Not sure where you want to take your photos? That’s okay. My questionnaire helps me learn what you’re looking for, and from there I can suggest locations that fit. Maybe that’s Utah’s mountains, lakeside, florals, an urban setting, or something completely different.
You don’t have to have it all figured out before you reach out. that’s part of what I’m here for.
Whether you’re planning engagement photos, graduation photos, bridals, or an anniversary session in Salt Lake or Utah Valley, I want the process to feel like we’re creating it together, not like I’m just another vendor waiting for you to hand me a list of decisions.
Because the goal isn’t just to plan a photo session.
It’s to create an experience, an evening, and ultimately photographs that feel like you.
