Even when I told them they could relax because I was photographing their details and their faces weren’t in the frame, they were still smiling at each other. I love that.

Ten years into marriage, with two young kids and a life that looks different than when they were first married, these two are still finding reasons to smile at each other.

He’d pull her close and kiss her temple, whisper something that made her giggle, or reach for her hand. She’d settle into him like it was the most natural thing in the world. Because it was. Those little moments said so much about the two of them.

They chose to celebrate their tenth anniversary with a vow renewal session, dressing up for an evening together. Her in a wedding dress, him in a button up shirt and tie. Both celebrating the marriage they’ve built over the last decade.

Before their session, she told me that life feels a little more settled now. That they’re more comfortable with themselves and each other. I recognized that in feeling in my own life. Life changes when you have kids, and your relationship changes with it. But there’s something really good about finding that comfortable place together and still wanting to celebrate your marriage.

We drove through pouring rain to get to the session. By the time we arrived, the weather had cleared and the ground was nearly completely dry. The temperature was warm and we had a beautiful evening together. The remaining clouds as a reminder of the storm. There might not have been the glow of the sunset, but there were plenty of moments worth remembering.

Ten years of marriage, two young kids, and a whole lot of life lived together. They chose to celebrate this season with a vow renewal, getting dressed up and taking time to honor the marriage they’ve built. I’m so glad I got to be there to document it.

Libby and Travis, thank you for driving through an incredible amount of water and letting me spend the evening with you. It was an honor to be a small part of your anniversary celebration. I hope you enjoy scrolling through some of my many favorites from your session!
