Planning a wedding, preparing for senior year, or celebrating an anniversary comes with a long list of decisions. Choosing a photographer is just one of them.

Somewhere along the way, the conversation almost always turns to price. I understand why. But over the years I’ve found myself wondering if there’s another question worth asking before you ever compare photographers.

What Are You Hoping to Remember?

If what you hope to remember is: we laughed harder than we expected. Then maybe guidance matters.

If you hope to remember: we forgot there was a camera. Then maybe trust matters.

If you want to remember: that actually felt like us. Then maybe collaboration matters.

I don’t want the most memorable part of your session to be wondering what to do with your hands, or that you feel like you had to constantly adjust your clothes.

Imagine the Future

Years from now you’ll pull these photographs out. Your children will ask about your wedding. Your senior will be packing for college. You’ll stop in the hallway because a framed photo catches your eye. You’ll notice someone who isn’t here anymore.

When that happens, what do you hope to see?

Beautiful Isn’t Enough

Of course I hope you notice the light. The location. The composition. I care deeply about all those things. But I also hope that you notice something else.

The way you laughed. The way he reached for your hand. How proud you were in your cap and gown. How excited you were walking into a new season.

What You’re Really Investing In

You’re investing in enough preparation so that you aren’t making all the decisions on. your own. Guidance that helps you stop wondering what to do all evening. Someone who notices what’s happening around you. Somebody who helps you relax enough to forget the camera. Photographs that feel like your life instead of a performance.

My Favorite Compliment

“You captured them exactly how we see them.”

Not because they smile or looked perfect, but because they looked like themselves. I want you to love your gallery, and I want you to see yourself in every frame. I want nothing more than for everyone who sees the images to smile and think, “That’s the person I know.”

Before you compare collections, hours, or prices choosing a photographer, ask yourself…

When I look back at these photographs years from now, what do I hope they remind me of?

Because if the answer is, “we laughed, we forgot the camera, or that felt exactly like us” then that will naturally shape the photographer who’s the right fit for you.
